Japanese Street Fashion- Gothic lolita dress

Gothic lolita dress is often shortened to GothLoli, the style began in the 1990s and as with Western Goth, is heavily influenced by music, in Japan, Visual Kei bands such as Dir End Grey and Malice Mizer inspire this look.
As the name suggests this Lolita look is inspired by the Goth look, as seen Western fashion culture. The outfits consist of mainly black garments, lace, velvet and images of bats, crucifixes and cobwebs. This street fashion is also heavily influenced by Victoria fashions, resulting in the use of petticoats, ruffled shirts and buttoned up boots.
The word "Lolita" became famous thanks to the novel from Vladimir Nabokov that describes an unethical relationship between an old man and a young minor girl with name 'Lolita".
